Just got home from New Zealand. Hunted tahr on the South Island and red stag on the North. Sure is a beautiful country.

Shot this tom at 12 yards on the next to last day of the MI early turkey season. The week before I had a shooting tune up from my coach, Rod Jenkins and it paid off with a perfect placement and quick recovery. 25#, 1 1/16″ spurs and 9 3/4″ beard.

Last March some friends and I visited Argentina on a bowhunting adventure. We lost a couple days of our short hunt to airline/weather delays.

The red stag roar was at its peak when we arrived.

We saw hundreds of stags and the hills echoed with there roars most of the day and night.

I got in several stalks on red stag and fallow deer. This was a free ranging hunt with a very high animal population. I never shot an arrow at a stag, but had several opportunities.

We all had a great hunt although short. Everyone in my party was successful. The good news is that I’m scheduled to return again next March and I’m dreaming of rutting red stags and fallow bucks.
